I bought the ad free version, but I always get a pop up that says I need map extension when I track my ride. Why?

As the description indicated the remove adds was just to remove google adds, it was specially done, as mentioned, to those users who do not want or do not need any actual plugin like the Map View / Roadbook.
Buying the Add Free does not grant any access to other plugins.
If you did not understand that when you bought it you can try to ask for a refund in the Google Play Store.I would also suggest that you move to the new Beta version.
