I have a new D865X on order and it should be here sometime next week. I’ll be mounting it on my BMW R1300GS. I found out something that should be of interest to MRA users. The map that DMD2 uses is Andromap, and the underlying base map in Andromap is OpenStreetMap. See the Andromap licensing agreements here that shows the use of OpenStreetMap.
“https://www.openandromaps.org/lizenzen”So instead of leaving my default set to the HERE/Garmin map I’ll be changing it to OSM. I was disappointed trying to use the MRA iOS app with Apple Carplay and a Chigee device as the functionality was very limited IMO, so I’m really looking forward to still using the MRA planner (which is the best there is IMO) with the D865 and the DMD2 app.

Hey Bart – I finally just got it mounted yesterday. I have done a lot of testing of both the DMD app and MyRouteApp though. The DMD app would be fantastic for offroad riding following a track as that’s what it was designed for, however MRA is far superior for on road ridiing with routes that include via points with points of interest and other stops. According to DMD’s lead developer in another one of my recent posts “DMD doesn’t do routes”. Bottom line is that I’ll use both for different purposes. The hardware is fantastic!

Hi, I was curious about how the D865X performs on your BMW R1300GS. Is it what you expected? I was also wondering: do you only use MyRoute-app for planning routes, or do you also use the navigation app from MyRoute-app on the D865X? How does that work for you in practice?
