ParticipantAfter creating the route, I save the file and then load the same file back into the map application. However, when I try to edit the old file, the original content doesn’t change—instead, new lines are created.
Why is this happening, and how can I edit an existing route instead of creating a new one?

ParticipantWhat platform are you using, phone or tablet?
What app are you creating and the route in initially and then trying to edit/alter?
It may be that the DMD2 apps route/GPX editor doesn’t have the ability you’re asking about. João Pereira has stated in recent comments that they are working on new abilities of the DMD apps route planning and GPX handling, soon to be released. He has said they initially designed the DMD2 app to be only an offroad app.
But it seems folks are wanting the routing and editing capabilities they’re familiar with from other apps and platforms.
For the time being, if there’s no way to do what you want in DMD, I think I’d export your route, open it in a dedicated GPS program/editor, edit it the way you want it and then import/save that to your device. And delete the original file on the device so as not to get confused between the old and new.
Currently, the only reason I see for using the DMD route/GPX planner/editor is if you need to come up with something on-the-fly, “out in the field”, at the time.
Otherwise, everything I plan and make for routes/tracks/waypoints, whatever, is made/edited in a dedicated GPS program on my PC and imported to a file system I’ve set up on the installed SD card.

ParticipantActually, I just wanted to read along quietly to find out what the problem is here and whether a solution would also be helpful for me.
But after comment of @TR42’s – which I agree – I feel compelled to write something:
I think it’s appreciated when highly specialised apps (like DMD2) are created, because sometimes dedicated users want to achieve ambitious goals with them. Because in most cases, apps that can do everything are just average and not high-end.
If other users now start to push the developers of highly specialised apps, to include more functions that other apps also have – then this does not guarantee that the app will remain highly sophisticated. Since the developer capacity is not infinite, the app is more likely to become average. Surely nobody can want that?
It is a huge advantage of DMD devices that they are Android-based. You can use several highly specialised apps in parallel!
For example: I like to use GoogleMaps for quick “A to B navigation” (because of perfect traffic information). For more demanding routes, I use the MyRoute app. And for off-road, I love the DMD2 app. In the end: I can use a locally saved gpx file in several apps at the same time, to get the best result for me. How nice is that?

ParticipantAgree. Because it is Android based, I have access to running other map software that I regularly use, Google Maps and Gaia, on the same device, for different types and areas of riding.

ParticipantI noticed that when I finish drawing my route and add the browser link to my bookmarks, the route map is still there when I click the link later, and I can continue editing or modifying it.
