Hi DMD2 team,
One feature that I find very useful and important for safe off-road driving is the danger alerts through the red screen flash. This allows us to stay focused on the terrain ahead and only look at the screen when approaching a location classified as dangerous on the waypoint or track.
As I frequently organize off-road tours, I first scout the route, identifying hazardous areas in the terrain, which I save as waypoints. These waypoints and the track are part of the *.gpx file provided to participants.
My first question is:
When I create a waypoint, which attributes categorise it so that DMD2 recognizes it as a danger alert and activates the red screen flash? What are the attributes of the other colours—green, orange, and blue?
My second question is:
When navigating a track with waypoints, the flash is activated 500m before the waypoint and turns off after 7 flashes, meaning that for about 450m of approach, there is no visual alert. It is easy to miss since most of the approach happens without an active warning.
Suggestion:
It would be enough if the flash be activated between 150 to 200m before the waypoint classified as dangerous and remain active until reaching the point.
It would also be interesting to implement an audible alert alongside the red flashes (similar to the Sentinel system) with an output for an external device with a significant dB level, with the possibility of turning off upon acknowledging.
Thank you.
