ParticipantI am new to this group and I am planning on purchasing one of the DMD navigation devices for my 2024 Aprilia Tuareg 660. I like to plan ahead and visualize the install and therefore I am asking for folks with the same bike to share their installs and advice in this regard.
Some of the goals for my install include that the unit turns on and off with the ignition, does not mess up the bike’s electronics, is waterproof or water resistant and that the wiring is run neatly as to not interfere too much with repairs and servicing. I may have to deviate here and there from these goals, so please post your comments even if your setup does not fulfill all of these criteria.
Two specific questions I have right now are:
1. How to connect the DMD-navigation device to HEX ezCAN
2. Where to tap into an ignition switched wire for connection of the green wire if I do not use an EZ-can
Thank you

ParticipantI have the same issue. Has anyone responded to you regarding the installation of the DMD T685 on the Tuareg? Thanks Carl

ParticipantHi Carl,
No responses yet.
So I went ahead and purchased the HEX ezCAN, mostly because I did not want to tap into any wires and possibly void the current warranty on the bike and in order to not deter future potential buyers upon resale.
I will be connecting to the ezCAN the DMD T865 with the DMD2 remote, 2 DIN outlets with each 10 AMP (for cycle pump and heated gear, etc) as well as 1 regular , cigarette lighter style 12V outlet for radar detector. I will not be using all these things all the time, but since I have the tank removed and will be digging into the dashboard, I may as well get the wiring done and run that through wiring conduit on mostly the left side of the bike.
For mounting I purchased the extended 12 mm DMD mounting bracket and an AMPS mounting plate.
I read that the 12mm GPS mounting bar on the Tuareg can get quite loose at times. There are several fixes for that. However, while researching that topic, I came upon the dashboard stiffener offered by Moto Boxer , a company in France. I ordered that with the side plates in order to accommodate the electrical outlets I will be adding. You can have a look at that on their website. That stiffener should reinforce the 12 mm GPS mounting bar quite well. I will need that because I am planning to ride this bike through more technical terrain. I think that I may be removing the sun-visor over the Tuaregs TFT, but we’ll see as this comes together.
If you are interested, I will post pictures of the installation once completed. I bet I will be playing around with running the wires and adjusting mounting locations, etc.
What are your plans? Do you have specific concerns or any good ideas?

ParticipantFor completeness sake: I will also be connecting a quadlock wireless charger to the ezCAN.

ParticipantHi Carl,
I’m looking at the same setup as you, but wondering if you needed the extended bar mount or whether the short one would do? I asked Cesar at DMD and he said the shirt works fine, but as you’ve installed it, maybe you can advise too. Or send a picture 🤞
Was it easy enough connecting the tablet to the Hexcan? Any help you can offer would be great. I actually haven’t even got my bike yet, so can’t share anything with you, but will once I have it👍
I’m very excited about getting onto the harder stuff with it, everyone says it’s such a good bike to ride 😎

ParticipantThis is how far I got. I will be connecting to the ezCAN, but the green wire from the DMD T865X will not be needed for that. I will blind-end it.
