I think I’m doing something wrong when using DMD for navigation. I have found that I need to pan around and drop a pin where I want to navigate to.
Perhaps I am entering locations incorrectly. Example: Davis, WV. Just thinks and thinks and never finds it. Do I need to enter Davis, WV, USA? Something else?

On the map, there’s a magnifying glass icon. Pressing this icon provides you the “Place Search” and the first box is the “online address search”. Assuming you’re connected online, you begin to type an address within the “online address search”.
Well, the “online” part is a problem because I don’t have a SIM card. I’m on wifi at home, but not once I am out on a ride. Does the search function only work online?
Correct. Search function only works if the tablet has online access.
Either set up your phone to work with the tablet as a WiFi hotspot so the tablet can access the internet, or while you’re at home and have access online, do a search for the addresses/places you want to go, choose the SAVE option so they are stored on the tablet for you to be able to access later when you don’t have internet access.
as @ TR42 wrote: the online search vor Cities is only working, if you are online (connected in any way to internet). But searching in the categories of POI (fuel station, restaurants, etc.) will work also offline.
And navigating to a selected POI will also work offline.
