    Hi all DMD2 users,
I am testing DMD2 on my brand new Oukitel RT3 Pro tablet (with the latest Android 14 firmware, as of November 2024).
Unfortunately I am having problems when setting DMD2 as the (main) launcher. I keep seeing “Quickstep isn’t responding” (Quickstep being the default Oukitel launcher) and (when rotating the tablet) I often see the DMD2 screen “Rotating this screen”. From time to time the tablet remains on the “Rotating this screen” screen and I have to reboot it.
When I set Quickstep as the main launcher I don’t see “Quickstep isn’t responding” at all, so it must be the combination of Quickstep/DMD2.

I would love to make DMD2 my main launcher (and pay fot the navigation (and possibly ODB2) plugin) but at the moment I can’t use DMD2

    Any advices would be appreciated

    Regards
    Clemens

When you set DMD2 as the default home launcher it means the launcher is DMD2 and not Quickstep.
If Quickstep crashes it means it is still running when it should not be in use, we been dealing with some similar issues on our own devices FIRMWARE but we mostly solved it.
Your case would require attention from the device manufacturer, its not something DMD2 can fix. I would suggest not using DMD2 as the default launcher or not using it with Rotation unlocked (DMD2 setting), leaving rotation unlocked means the device can rotate while ridding, which is something you dont want either.

    Hi João,
first of all, thanks for replying.

    >If Quickstep crashes it means it is still running when it should not be in use
    this puzzles me as well

    >Your case would require attention from the device manufacturer
I guess I won’t get any attention by Oukitel 😉

    > I would suggest not using DMD2 as the default launcher
I will give this a try and shall report back

    Muito obrigado

I have an RT3 OUKITEL too. I had the same issues with it crashing when it was the default home launcher. I just swapped it out for the quickstep and had no further problems.

I then had an issue where DMD2 saw me at a previous location, I could even navigate from the incorrect location despite being online. For some reason as soon as I opened google maps it immediately reset to my current location. Previously it would seize up after 10mins riding. This also stopped once I had opened the google maps app even though on both occasions is was just open in the background.

Since then I had a full days riding with none of those problems.

I did have an issue where I locked the screen as it was raining, the lock icon and the 2 either side of it disappered until I went to the home screen and returned to the map screen.

I love the app and appreciate the complexities of it creation. Keep up the good work guys you are doing an amazing job with it. btw the group icon is brilliant and whilst only 2 of us have the app at this point in time, sharing visually each of our locations along with call for help option is an important and very helpful addition.

looks like the latest Oukitel firmware (P593_OQ_P06B_6769_U0_EEA_V1.9.6_S250213) “fixes” the issue

    Hi Clemens and Peter

What is the Oukitel display like in the direct sunlight.

    Compared to what 😉 ?
I guess you cannot compare it to a e.g. Hugerock X70 with its 2000nits. IMHO “ok”.  I put on a matte screen cover which helps reduce reflections

Sorry I wasn’t comparing it to other units

I just wanted to know if it was easy to read in the sunlight or do you think it needs a shade.

I have an older Garmin Zumo and it is useless in the sun. Also my IPhone is difficult to read and it gets pretty hot here in outback Australia so the phone shuts down a lot from the heat.
