Hi, i can´t find this written anywhere in the FAQs, on the genereal Informations nor via the forum-search, so i ask this here.

When in Roadbook-Mode, i assume the distance measuring is done with GPS.

If i use the obd-dongle, will the measuring be done with the front wheel sensor or still the GPS from my device?

Can i somehow decide what is used?

    Hope to get an awnser.

    Kind Regards

    Mirco

The measure is always done by GPS, that is how most roadbooks are tracked so it will match better.
Measuring from the OBD is a really bad idea, most of the times speed and distances are WAY off, with often existing some sort of calibration in the stock speedo for wheel size correction.

    Thanks for the quik awnser.

I tried to find any information about the offered realtime-datasets by the OBD Interface but couldn´t find anything in the users manual or via google.
So i asked ChatGPT and and it basically said that the provided wheelspin-information (which could be used with some simple math for determinating the traveled distance) is kept between the sensor and the board-computer and isn´t offered at the obd interface (usually).

In my mind this type of measurement could be more reliable and accurate than doing gps-pings every now and then with my galaxy active tab2 somewhere in between two mountains.

(Of course resprecting the fact i don´t wheelie as much and as controlled as other members of this forum (looking at you joao))

but anyhow, seems like my idea isn´t coming to any usable outcome, so consider this thread as closed.

    kind regards

    Mirco

    Hi Mirco,

only for professional use (Rallye racing), extra wheel sensor(s) are used with tripmaster(s). That’s in some cases a bit more precise. Search in stores of dealers for Rallye equipment like:
