On the map screen, tap the search icon. In the latest update, search brings up a list of POIs and their icons. Tap the Cafes, Pubs and Bar icon. That should bring up a list of places close to you, from nearest to furthest.
Also in that list, at the top left is the icon for Online Search. Tap that, it brings up a box to type in a specific name/address.
