Actually, I just wanted to read along quietly to find out what the problem is here and whether a solution would also be helpful for me.
But after comment of @TR42’s – which I agree – I feel compelled to write something:
I think it’s appreciated when highly specialised apps (like DMD2) are created, because sometimes dedicated users want to achieve ambitious goals with them. Because in most cases, apps that can do everything are just average and not high-end.
If other users now start to push the developers of highly specialised apps, to include more functions that other apps also have – then this does not guarantee that the app will remain highly sophisticated. Since the developer capacity is not infinite, the app is more likely to become average. Surely nobody can want that?
It is a huge advantage of DMD devices that they are Android-based. You can use several highly specialised apps in parallel!
For example: I like to use GoogleMaps for quick “A to B navigation” (because of perfect traffic information). For more demanding routes, I use the MyRoute app. And for off-road, I love the DMD2 app. In the end: I can use a locally saved gpx file in several apps at the same time, to get the best result for me. How nice is that?
