- When I want to view a route in DMD2 that I’ve created that’s far away from where I currently am located, how do I do that without DMD calculating a route from my current location to the starting point of the route. That can be very time consuming if I’m planning a route that’s 1,000 miles or more away from where I am currently. A “View Route” option would be very useful if there isn’t one already available that I’m missing?
Thanks in advance for your help! SteveJ
When you load a GPX file with either routes or tracks you can view the content like this:
Type GPX button in the top of the map view > Select the file > Now tap on either the “Tracks” or “Routes” or even “Waypoints” depending on what you want to check.
Cool thing is that you have a yellow button in the corner of the window, tap on it and the window will adjust to half screen. Now you can tap on the list to center the map on any of the content. Makes it easy and fast to preview anything.
I don’t see an “Avoid unpaved roads” option although I saw it in one of DMD’s “how we use it” YouTube videos. Has this option been eliminated? If so that will really limit it’s usefulness for touring riders.
Road / Road Fun automatically avoids unpaved roads, although those profiles can still route off-road the objective is to take you out of the off-road and bring to a paved road.
Once a route has been created in DMD is there any way to see the route’s statistics (time, distance, etc)?
You cannot create routes in DMD2 (at least not yet) you can create a navigation from your position to a destination but thats not the same as a GPX route.
Once you start a navigation you will have a box on the left showing you distance/eta/progress/next turn.
When I import a .gpx file with a route DMD shows a LOT of POIs on the route that I didn’t export which makes the route hard to see. How do I hide these POIs?
That is a feature called AUTO POI – You can disable that in the GPX settings -> GPX round button -> Settings (cog wheel blue button) -> Scroll down the list and tap on “Auto Find POIs”
Is there a way to view a route’s turn-by-turn instructions like you can do on a Garmin device?
No idea what this means.
If I do put a via point in a route is there a way to skip it if I decide to bypass it?
Advanced route edit / features / planning is what we are working now. Should be ready soon.
I’ve downloaded all of the maps for the United States. Does this slow down DMD? Why is there an option to turn them on or off once they are downloaded?
The only thing it can slow down is in the case of location searching which will go through all the loaded maps to find (in case of the off-line search).
